Rendering Times
Fuchur at Patchworks discusses speeding up renderings.
White Render Look
Method 1 - Basic Ambiance / Ambience Occlusion
The first method is just an AO render. This method only works when there are no textures on the model.
(source)
- Choreography
- Property: Global Ambient Type = Global Color
- Property: Ambiance Color = White (255, 255, 255)
- Property: Ambiance Intensity = 80%
- Property: Ambiance Occlusion = 80%
- Lights - disable all but the rim light; position it, and make it white
- Camera
- Property: Background = White (255, 255, 255)
- Render Options
- Property: Ambient Occlusion = ON
- Property: Occlusion Sampling = 20% (up to 70% for less noise)
- Property: Multi-Pass = On
- Property: Passes = 4 (or 16 for better)
- Property: Ambient Occlusion = ON
- Property: Global Ambient Type = Global Color
Method 2 - AO plus Front-Projected Rotoscope
The second method builds on the AO method above by adding a rotoscope that is front-projected onto the model for its color. The benefit of this method is that it works even if you have already textured your model. The differences are highlighted in bold below. (source)
- Choreography
- Property: Global Ambient Type = Global Color (Note: does not need to be set to an image. However, there are many other neat effects possible by using Image Based Lighting.)
- Property: Ambiance Color = White (255, 255, 255)
- Property: Ambiance Intensity = 80%
- Property: Ambiance Occlusion = 80%
- Lights - disable all but the rim light; position it, and make it white
- Camera
- Rotoscopes
- White image rotoscope = a completely white image - IMPORTANT: This is on the Camera, not the Choreography
