1_05_01 DISSOLVE TO:

TIN WOODMAN leans back on his THRONE, quite proud of himself.

    In fact, I only needed to be oiled and polished.

1_05_02 WOOT (enthralled) 028 And did you marry Nimmie Amee?

1_05_03 Slowly, as TIN WOODMAN is thinking, he begins to look sad.

1_05_04 SCARECROW looks towards TIN WOODMAN.

1_05_05 A single oily tear runs down TIN WOODMAN'S cheek. TIN WOODMAN sighs. He shakes his head. His voice is barely audible.

TIN WOODMAN 029 No…

1_05_06 SCARECROW 029-01 What is it, my good friend?

1_05_07 TIN WOODMAN 031 Since I was made of tin, I had no heart, and could not return Nimmie’s love... But then I went with Dorothy and Scarecrow to the Emerald city, and the Wizard gave me a heart.

1_05_09 SCARECROW, concerned, walks towards his old friend.

1_05_10 TIN WOODMAN, head bowed, is lost in thought., but he pushes back the feelings with an effort. SCARECROW approaches him, oilcan in hand.

1_05_11 SCARECROW carefully oils the joints in TIN WOODMAN’S neck.

1_05_12 TIN WOODMAN (forlorn) 031-02 I have not thought of Nimmie Amee's love again until now... And I am overwhelmed.

1_05_12a SCARECROW returns to his seat.

1_05_13 TIN WOODMAN puts his face in his hands.

TIN WOODMAN

    I'm sorry. I do not know what has come over me.

1_05_14 SCARECROW 032 Can it be love?

1_05_15 TIN WOODMAN is startled at the sound of a breaking sound from his chest. He oens his chest plate and takes out his HEART.

1_05_15a The HEART is cracked.

1_05_19 SCARECROW

    Your heart is breaking as we speak.

1_05_20 TIN WOODMAN puts the HEART back into his chest.

TIN WOODMAN

   To think that her memory could affect me so?

1_05_22 SCARECROW is seated on his stool.

SCARECROW 036 I think… we must prepare to make a journey!

1_05_23 SCARECROW walks towards TIN WOODMAN.

SCARECROW

    Above all else, a heart is made to feel. 

1_05_23a SCARECROW

    Yours calls you to Nimmie Amee.

1_05_24 TIN WOODMAN

    Nimmie Amee declared she would marry me.  Despite my being made of tin.  Could I do no better than complete my promise to marry her.
  

1_05_25 WOOT looks at them hopefully.

WOOT 038-02 I'll help you too... Sire.

1_05_26 TIN WOODMAN smiles. TIN WOODMAN looks down at WOOT, stands.

1_05_27 TIN WOODMAN 038-03 I will find Nimmie!

1_05_28 TIN WOODMAN

    I will tell her that I still love her!

1_05_29 TIN WOODMAN walks out onto a balcony. It is nighttime. He walks to a railing.

TIN WOODMAN 038-04 I shall bring her here—and make her Empress!

1_05_30 SCARECROW and WOOT join TIN WOODMAN on the balcony.

TIN WOODMAN 038-05 She will have a tin gown—with ruffles and tucks—and slippers and earrings and bracelets, and a tin crown! A glorious, magnificent tin crown!

1_05_31 The TIN CASTLE can be seen at night in the distance. Stars twinkle in the night sky.

SCARECROW (OS) 038-06 I’m sure she’ll be delighted.
