SEQUENCE 1_04
1_04_00 INT. THRONE ROOM - SUNSET TIN WOODMAN
I was a woodchopper,
RIPPLE DISSOLVE:
1_04_02 EXT. MUNCHKIN COUNTY WOODS - DAY NICK CHOPPER (Tin Woodman's meat form) walks through the woods, axe over his shoulder, whistles happily.
TIN WOODMAN (VO) 021-02 and provided firewood with which the Munchkin women would cook their meals while the children warmed themselves about the fires.
1_04_04 INT. THRONE ROOM - SUNSET WOOT stares up at TIN WOODMAN, enthralled.
TIN WOODMAN 021-03 My life was one of much content… Until I fell in love with a beautiful Munchkin girl

1_04_06 TIN WOODMAN
Ah, yes.
TIN WOODMAN sits back on his THRONE, sighs.
TIN WOODMAN 023 Nimmie Amee.
1_04_07 EXT. WITCH'S COTTAGE - DAY NIMMIE AMEE, dressed in tatters, grimy from tending chimneys and cook-pots, but still beautiful.
TIN WOODMAN (VO) 023-01 She was so pretty that the sunsets blushed when their rays feel upon her.
1_04_08 NICK peeks out from behind a gnarled tree, his face wreathed in a smile.
TIN WOODMAN (VO)
She was the most gorgeous creature
1_04_09 NIMMEE AMEE plops a bucket down beside a well, and sinks down beside it, exhausted.
TIN WOODMAN (VO) 023-02 I had ever laid eyes on. She slaved from morning till night
1_04_011 EXT. WOODS – DAY NIMMIE AMEE struggles with a large axe. She raises it shakily above her. The weight of the axe pulls her backward.
TIN WOODMAN (VO)
for an old Witch,
1_04_12 TIN WOODMAN (VO)
scrubbing and sweeping her hut
NIMIE AMEE falls to the ground. She starts to cry.
1_04_13 NICK CHOPPER stands nearby, watching her.
TIN WOODMAN (VO)
and cooking her meals
1_04_14 NIMMIE AMEE struggles to pick up the axe again.
TIN WOODMAN (VO)
and washing her dishes.
1_04_14a Another axe chops a piece of wood on a stump in half.
1_04_15 NIMMIE AMEE looks up surprised.
1_04_16 NICK CHOPPER looks at her after, his axe still stuck in the stump.
1_04_16a NICK CHOPPER holds out a hand.
TIN WOODMAN (VO)
In spite of it all,
NIMMIE AMEE (her face fully lit) shyly returns his smile.
TIN WOODMAN (VO)
it was love at first sight.
1_04_17 EXT. A MEADOW - DAY NIMMIE AMEE and NICK CHOPPER dance in the knee high grass.
TIN WOODMAN (VO)
And, of course, we... Well, we thought it would go on forever.
1_04_17a EXT. WITCHES’ COTTAGE - DAY NIMMIE AMEE waves to NICK CHOPPER happily. He deposits an armload of wood.
TIN WOODMAN (VO)
We were wrong.
1_04_17b NICK CHOPPER hugs NIMMIE AMEE.
1_04_18 Two malevolent YELLOW EYES watch through one of the grimy windows of the WITCH'S COTTAGE. Something OS growls.
Suddenly, the door of the WITCHE'S COTTAGE bursts open. A noxious whirlwind erupts out of it.
1_04_18a NIMMIE AMEE screams. NICK CHOPPER, though frightened, pulls her to him protectively.
The maelstrom whirls and rages around them, accompanied by howls and shrieks. NIMMIE AMEE hides her face against NICK CHOPPER.
1_04_19a TIN WOODMAN (VO) 023-04 The Witch commanded me to never to come near Nimmie Amee again...
1_04_20 TIN WOODMAN
But I told her I was my own master and would do as I pleased (shudders)... Not realizing that this was a careless way to
1_04_22 EXT. WOODS – DAY NICK CHOPPER chops at a large, gnarled TREE. An eerie yellow glow surrounds his axe while he is holding it over his head.
TIN WOODMAN (VO) 023-05 speak to a Witch. The next day the Witch enchanted
1_04_22a NICK CHOPPER (VO) 023-06 my axe, and it cut off my leg.
1_04_22b NICK CHOPPER'S axe misses the tree he is chopping and hangs in the air threateningly.
1_04_22c NICK CHOPPER howls in pain (silently).
CUT TO: 1_04_24 EXT. KU-KLIP’S WORKSHOP - DAY TIN WOODMAN (VO) 025 But I would not allow the Witch to conquer me so easily... I knew a very skillful mechanic
CUT TO:
1_04_25 EXT. KU-KLIP’S WORKSHOP - DAY KU-KLIP stands in the doorway of his workshop, concerned, motioning for someone to come in.
TIN WOODMAN (VO)
at the other side of the forest.
WOOT (VO) 026 He must have been a wonderful craftsman!
1_04_26 INT. THRONE ROOM - SUNSET TIN WOODMAN 027 He was, indeed. He could make anything out of tin!
CUT TO: 1_04_27 WITCH is angry that Tin Woodman has returned.
CUT TO: 1_04_28 TIN WOODMAN (VO)
And I, foolishly thought, all was well…
NICK CHOPPER, with one tin leg, stands examining a tree when axe begins to move on its own.
1_04_30 All looks peaceful in the WOODS. OS, the sound of wood being savagely chopped.
FADE TO BLACK:
1_04_31 PATH - DAY NIMMIE AMEE, holding NICK CHOPPER in her arms, walks down a path to EXT. KU-KLIP'S WORKSHOP, which is part factory, part mill, part sophisticated toy factory. She walks past TIN SCULPTURES and a WATERWHEEL.
TIN WOODMAN (VO) 027-02 Nimmie Amee found me. She carried me
1_04_32 TIN WOODMAN (VO)
to the tinsmith... There was, in the end
KU-KLIP, dressed in a leather apron, standing in front of a fanciful array of tools, holds a pair of pliers, which he clicks.
1_04_34 EXT. KU-KLIP’S WORKSHOP - DAY TIN WOODMAN (VO)

The OS sound of hammering, drilling, etc.

In many ways…
1_04_35 EXT. WOODS – DAY
TIN WOODMAN chops methodically at a pile of firewood as KU-KLIP watches, beaming.
TIN WOODMAN (VO)
I was better than ever… my body did not ache or pain me… and I had no need for clothing…
