SEQUENCE 2_15 - "ESCAPE"

DISSOLVE TO:

2_15_01 INT. BEDROOM – LATER

MRS. YOOP sleeps soundly.

PAN TO: Next to MRS. YOOP⿿S bed is GREEN MONKEY in the ornate box. TIN GIRL stands next to him, held prisoner by a gold chain around her neck.

2_15_02 TIN GIRL, anguished, looks OS to Green Monkey.

2_15_03 GREEN MONKEY smiles weakly. OS Mrs. Yoop snores loudly, and his smile fades.

2_15_04 INT. HALLWAY ⿿ NIGHT

TIN OWL and STRAW BEAR creep down the hallway, closer and closer to the sound of Mrs. Yoop⿿s OS snoring.

2_15_05 INT. HALLWAY OUTSIDE MRS. YOOP⿿S BEDROOM ⿿ NIGHT

There⿿s is the sound of someone blowing air into a balloon.

2_15_06 MRS. YOOP snorts, begins to awaken. The OS sound of blowing air continues. MRS. YOOP wakes up.

MRS. YOOP (angry) 238 Quiet, out there!

TIN OWL (OS) 239 Who?

MRS. YOOP (irritated) 240 You of course!

TIN OWL 241 Whooo?

2_15_08

MRS. YOOP 242 You!

2_15_09

TIN OWL 243 Whoooo?

2_15_10 MRS. YOOP jumps from her BED. She grabs the apron, ties it around her waist.

MRS. YOOP 244 I’ll show you who!

MRS. YOOP 245 Open!

2_15_11 The door to her bedroom opens, and MRS. YOOP rushes out.

2_15_12 Immediately, MRS. YOOP is confronted with GIANT LOON, overfilled with air. His booming voice startles and stuns her:

GIANT LOON 245-01 I will perforate you!!!

2_15_13 GIANT LOON pops loudly. Air rushes out and the skin flies about the room.

2_15_14 MRS. YOOP is startled and jumps back. She falls over STRAW BEAR, who has crept up on all fours behind her.

2_15_15 TIN OWL flies over MRS. YOOP’S sprawled form into the BEDROOM.

TIN GIRL (exclaiming) 247 The apron! The apron!

2_15_17 MRS. YOOP stands up.

2_15_18 TIN OWL reverses his flight direction and snatches the apron off of MRS. YOOP with his beak. MRS. YOOP grabs TIN OWL by the tail feathers.

2_15_19 TIN OWL struggles but is pulled in by MRS. YOOP.

2_15_20 STRAW BEAR rushes towards MRS. YOOP, skids into a slide and slams into her. She falls to ground, releasing TIN OWL.

2_15_21 TIN OWL flies back into BEDROOM.

2_15_22 TIN OWL drops the apron over GREEN MONKEY’S head.

MONKEY (commanding) 248 What⿦ Oh⿦ Open! Open! Op..

2_15_23 GREEN MONKEY’S box falls open and he jumps out. He cannot see because the apron’s still over his head and he bumps into things around the BEDROOM.

2_15_24 GREEN MONKEY pulls the apron off so he can see and races out the door.

TIN GIRL (pleading) 249 Free me! Owl!

2_15_26 TIN OWL flies onto TIN GIRL’S shoulder. He grabs her gold chain in his beak and bites hard. Nothing happens.

2_15_27 TIN OWL bites harder, his face turning red. Nothing happens.

2_15_28 GREEN MONKEY runs in, jumps around the furniture, pursued by MRS. YOOP.

MRS. YOOP 249-01 Come here, you stinking little… varmint. When I get my hands on you…

2_15_29 MRS. YOOP sees TIN OWL trying to release TIN GIRL. MRS. YOOP snarls as she changes direction to stop TIN OWL.

MRS. YOOP 249-02 Escape me, will you?!

2_15_30 TIN OWL crouches then springs into flight toward the open BEDROOM door. The gold chain tightens.

2_15_31 MRS. YOOP gets dangerously close.

2_15_32 The chain snaps.

2_15_33 TIN OWL tows TIN GIRL behind him out the BEDROOM door, followed closely by GREEN MONKEY and right behind him, almost touching the apron, is MRS. YOOP.

2_15_34 MRS. YOOP gives a wild cry just as GREEN MONKEY goes through the BEDROOM door.

GREEN MONKEY 250 Close!

2_15_35 The BEDROOM door slams shut. There’s a loud thump as OS Mrs. Yoop crashes into it on the other side, the door bulging outward. There’s a pause, then OS Mrs. Yoop pounds on the DOOR —

MRS. YOOP (OS muffled) 250-01 Open! Open! Open! Arrrrgh!

2_15_36 GREEN MONKEY and STRAW BEAR appear as silhouettes in the darkness.

GREEN MONKEY 251 I cannot see.

TIN OWL 252 I can. Follow me!

2_15_37 The bedroom DOOR crashes open. MRS. YOOP comes through.

MRS. YOOP 253 I will turn you all into BUGS! Then squash you!

2_15_38 GREEN MONKEY, TIN OWL, STRAW BEAR, and TIN GIRL rush through many COORIDORS.

STRAW BEAR (breathless) 254 Dear me, dear me. Are we lost?

2_15_40

TIN OWL 255 Follow me. I need only be somewhere once and I know my way forever.

2_15_41

TIN GIRL 256 You must be very clever.

2_15_42 TIN OWL smiles.

TIN GIRL (OS) 257 For an owl.

TIN OWL frowns.

2_15_43 The group ends up in front of the DOOR to the outside.

GREEN MONKEY 258 Open! Open! Open!

2_15_44 The door swings open and they all leap out.

2_15_45 MRS. YOOP is close but still in the hall.

2_15_46 GREEN MONKEY is smugly smiling. He waits until the last possible instant to shut the DOOR.

GREEN MONKEY (in a quiet, smug voice) 259 Close.

2_15_47 The DOOR slams shut on MRS. YOOP.

2_15_48 OS Mrs. Yoop slams into the closed door. The door does not budge. Her pounding is very muffled behind the thick DOOR.

2_15_49 TIN OWL lands on TIN GIRL’S shoulder.

TIN OWL 260 She will not break down that door.

TIN GIRL 261 Let us leave. I know Mrs. Yoop will find some way to recapture us. I cannot become her servant again.

TIN OWL 262 I’ll keep you safe… just… stay with me.

2_15_50 TIN GIRL looks into TIN OWL⿿S eyes, smiles.

2_15_51 TIN OWL, STRAW BEAR, GREEN MONKEY, and TIN GIRL run away from MRS. YOOP⿿S CASTLE while OS Mrs. Yoop pounds and yells. Lightning crackles overhead.
