SEQUENCE 2_11 - "BREAKOUT"

2_11_01 STRAW BEAR ambles toward the opening, desperate, but he’s too late and bumps his nose as the DOOR slams shut.

STRAW BEAR

     Open!

Nothing happens.

STRAW BEAR (desperate)

     Open!

Still, nothing happens.

STRAW BEAR (terrified) I-I-I said open!

2_11_02 STRAW BEAR slumps down.

STRAW BEAR Ohhhhh.

2_11_03 TIN OWL

     It’s just as well.

2_11_04 GREEN MONKEY

Just as—what—what are you talking about!

GREEN MONKEY leaps up onto the back of a chair.

2_11_05 TIN OWL sighs.

TIN OWL

It makes no difference. What am I without Nimmie Amme?

2_11_06 STRAW BEAR (outraged)

Eh... Eh?! What? You're a lovesick buffoon!

2_11_07 GREEN MONKEY (alarmed)

We must escape! We must! Oh my!

2_11_08 TIN OWL, STRAW BEAR, and GREEN MONKEY look around. The ceiling’s high and there are no windows.

2_11_09 STRAW BEAR

Your majesty... Eh, who is now a tin owl...

2_11_10 TIN OWL looks up forlornly from his perch, sighs heavily.

2_11_11 STRAW BEAR

It is time for you to show some fortitude.

2_11_12 TIN OWL

     What good would it do?

2_11_13 STRAW BEAR

If not for us, then how about for Woot?!

2_11_14 TIN OWL looks at GREEN MONKEY, who looks back. GREEN MONKEY looks very despondent.

TIN OWL What... Eh. Oh. All... Hump.

2_11_15 Slowly, TIN OWL extends his wings, flexes them, then takes to the air. He flies around clumsily.

2_11_16 TIN OWL rises to the ceiling and circles round and round looking for an opening with no success.

2_11_17 TIN OWL

No way out... It's windowless... Tighter than a tin box. We're captured.

2_11_18 TIN OWL loses control of his flight and zooms dangerously close to STRAW BEAR.

STRAW BEAR

Eh... Eh... Eh... E-e-emergency landing... Eh, uh... Pull up! Pull up, pull up... Eh, Sire. Duck and cover!

2_11_19 TIN OWL barely manages to come to an undignified landing atop the back of a large, wooden chair. He settles into a heap, shivers. He heaves and sigh of relief, and looks around.

TIN OWL

     It’s hopeless... It's... Uh... W-w-we can’t... Get out.

2_11_20 TIN OWL sees his axe lying on the floor.

TIN OWL

My... axe! W-we can hack our way out with my axe!

2_11_21 TIN OWL flutters noisily to the floor beside the axe. His hope turns to frustration.

TIN OWL

But I have no arms... One of you must do it.

2_11_22 STRAW BEAR spits on his puffy hands and strides to the axe and tries to lift it but his straw arms have no strength and he simply pulls apart at the seams, letting loose a bit of straw.

2_11_23 GREEN MONKEY strides in and pushes STRAW BEAR aside.

GREEN MONKEY

     Move aside, big guy...

GREEN MONKEY tries to lift the axe, but it’s heavy, and as he lifts it over his head, he loses his balance and weaves across the floor.

2_11_24 TIN OWL and STRAW BEAR watch.

TIN OWL Easy now... Easy... Easy.

2_11_25 GREEN MONKEY wavers and totters crazily across the room.

2_11_26 When GREEN MONKEY gets to the wall, he manages to swing the axe with all his might and chops the wall, barely managing to avoid hitting STRAW BEAR.

TIN OWL and STRAW BEAR scatter.

2_11_27 TIN OWL The boy's out of control...

2_11_28 The wall remains undamaged and GREEN MONKEY is catapulted into the air to hang precariously from a chandelier.

2_11_29 The axe rattles in a circle to settle back on the ground.

2_11_30 TIN OWL, STRAW BEAR, and GREEN MONKEY stare morosely at the axe as it finally settles to a stop.

TIN OWL (losing hope)

There’s no way out of here... There’s just no way...

2_11_31 STRAW BEAR stands in front of the chamber door.

STRAW BEAR

     Ah... Ah... Open. Open! Open!!!

2_11_32 The door doesn’t respond.
